Orthopaedic Surgeon
Qualifications: MBChB, FRCS (Edinburgh), FHKCOS, FRACS

Mr Ngar finished orthopaedic training and qualified as a specialist in Hong Kong in 1995 before he receiving further training at Waikato Hospital.  Upon attaining been qualified in New Zealand, Mr Ngar was employed by Lakes DHB as a full time orthopaedic surgeon serving Rotorua and Taupo for the last 13 years.

Whilst serving in a provincial centre, this enhanced Mr Ngar’s experience in a wide range of orthopaedics and he developed special interest in assessing and treating foot and ankle problems and child orthopaedics.  Mr Ngar pioneered the Ponseti treatment method for inborn clubfoot problems in Rotorua in 2006, which turned out to be a great success.

Mr Ngar has a special passion for the disadvantaged.  He had volunteered for multiple orthopaedic service trips to Kenya and remote parts of China over the past few years.

Mr Ngar wishes to use his skill and experience to serve the community through Ormiston Hospital and Ormiston Specialist Centre starting from April 2016.  Apart from his fluency in English, Mr Ngar is able to communicate effectively in Cantonese and Mandarin as well.
